Hospitality Interior Design

Environments where every detail is designed around the guest — from the quality of light at check-in to the texture under their hand at the bar.

The Service

The Guest Experience Begins Before They Say a Word

In hospitality, the environment is the product. Before your team greets a guest, before food arrives at the table, before a spa treatment begins — the space has already formed an impression. That impression is either designed or it is accidental. We design it.
Arch and Handle’s hospitality practice covers boutique hotels and full-service properties, restaurant and bar concepts, hotel spa and wellness facilities, lobby and reception environments, amenity spaces, and rooftop and terrace programming. Each project is treated as a guest journey — a sequence of moments from arrival to departure, each designed to compound the experience that preceded it.

What's Included

Full Scope. Nothing Outsourced.

Every hospitality engagement is scoped to your property type, guest profile, and operational requirements. The following represents our full hospitality capability.

Guest Journey Mapping

Spatial sequencing designed around the full guest journey — arrival, reception, circulation, dining, relaxation, departure — with every transition moment considered as a design opportunity.

Brand & Concept Development

Hospitality concept definition, brand narrative, and interior identity development — whether establishing a new property identity or refreshing an existing one for a new market context.

Material & Finish Specification

Commercial-grade material selection across all hospitality surfaces — flooring, wall treatments, textiles, joinery, and stone — specified for durability, maintenance, and lasting visual quality.

Lighting Design & Atmosphere

Layered lighting schemes that adjust the atmosphere from morning through evening, from public to private, from arrival to intimacy — designed as an integral part of the guest experience.

FF&E Procurement & Custom Pieces

Furniture, fixture, and equipment specification across all guest-facing areas — including bespoke and custom-manufactured pieces where the design brief requires originality at scale.

Construction & Installation Management

Contractor coordination, phased opening planning, pre-opening installation management, and snagging — ensuring the property opens at the standard the design intended.

Our Approach

Designed for Delight and Durability.

Hospitality design has two constraints that residential and commercial work rarely face simultaneously: it must create genuine sensory delight — the kind that makes guests photograph a space, return to it, recommend it — and it must do so using materials and finishes capable of withstanding years of intensive daily use. These are not competing requirements. They are the defining challenge of the discipline, and we approach them as one problem.
Our hospitality projects are developed with lifecycle cost analysis embedded from the outset. Material specifications include maintenance guidance and replacement cycle projections — because a design that looks magnificent at opening but degrades in year two has failed the operator. We design to perform across the full lifecycle of the property.

How We Work

The Arch & Handle Process

Every hospitality project follows the same four phases — from concept through pre-opening. The guest journey is the organising principle at every stage, not an afterthought.

01

Concept & Brief

Guest profile definition, competitive context review, brand and concept development, guest journey mapping, and site analysis. We establish who the space is for and what experience it needs to deliver before a single material is selected.

2–4 Weeks

02

Design Development

Space planning, mood and atmosphere direction, material palette, lighting concept, and furniture direction presented as a cohesive scheme. Operator and ownership reviewed at key milestones before any element is locked.

4–8 Weeks

03

Technical & Specification

Full technical drawings, detailed specifications, FF&E schedules, lighting specification, custom piece design, and contractor tender packages produced. Every decision documented before the site is opened — no scope creep, no last-minute changes.

6–12 Weeks

04

Delivery & Opening

Construction oversight, procurement management, phased installation coordination, pre-opening snagging, and final styling. We are present through opening day — because the standard of the space at handover is the standard your guests will experience from day one.

Client Voices

What Our Clients Say

"

Our guests have been photographing and sharing the spa since the day we opened. That is not an accident — Arch & Handle designed every corner with that in mind. The space is genuinely photogenic because it is genuinely considered. Every detail was deliberate.

"

We briefed Arch & Handle on a complete amenity floor redesign six weeks before our flag renegotiation. They delivered a complete scheme on time, managed the contractor, and the floor opened without a single day of delay. We renewed the flag and attributed the redesign directly in our pitch.

"

The restaurant we opened with Arch & Handle has been reviewed for its design in every major publication that covered the opening. The atmosphere they created is inseparable from the food — and our guests feel that. Bookings have been solid from the first week.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

If your question isn’t addressed here, our studio responds to all initial enquiries within one business day.

How does hospitality design differ from residential or commercial design?
Hospitality design is built around the guest journey — the sequence of experiences from arrival through departure. Every spatial decision, material choice, and lighting condition is evaluated against how it shapes that journey and the emotional memory it creates. Unlike residential design, durability and operational practicality are critical constraints; unlike commercial design, sensory delight and atmosphere are primary goals.
Yes. We are experienced working both with established brand standards — where our role is to express the brand with rigour and originality within set parameters — and with independent operators who are defining their identity for the first time. In either case, the guest experience is the design brief.
Hospitality interiors must perform under high footfall, survive rigorous cleaning regimes, and remain visually compelling years into their lifecycle. We specify commercial-grade materials that meet these requirements without compromising aesthetic quality. Our material specifications include lifecycle cost analysis and maintenance guidance as standard.
We work across boutique hotels and full-service hotel properties, fine dining and casual restaurant concepts, hotel spas and wellness centres, lobby and reception environments, rooftop and terrace spaces, and mixed-use hospitality and residential amenity developments. Each requires a different balance of priorities — we scope the service accordingly.
